Minecraft Armor: The Best Enchantments, Armor Stands, and Smithing Templates Explained

Minecraft is a game where survival is key. And nothing helps you survive better than the right armor! Over the years, the system has expanded, making it a bit challenging for newcomers to grasp. However, armor is one of the most critical investments you should make early on. Whether it’s fall damage or attacks from monsters, the right armor offers the best protection. In this article, we’ll provide you with all the information you need to equip yourself effectively.

The Best Minecraft Enchantments for Armor: Maximum Effectiveness

Minecraft Armor, Enchantments, and Armor Stands 1

Armor consists of four different parts: helmet, chestplate, leggings, and boots. You can craft these four parts from six materials: leather, iron, gold, diamond, netherite, and chainmail. The more expensive the material, the better the protection. This is reflected in the ten symbols above your XP bar. If these are completely filled with netherite, you’re well protected. However, additional enchantments offer even more possibilities!

General Enchantments: Making Your Armor Invincible

All these enchantments can be applied to all armor pieces. Some cannot be obtained naturally through the enchantment table but only via books.

  • Thorns: Enemies that get too close take damage.
  • Unbreaking: Armor lasts longer and needs less frequent repairs or replacement.
  • Mending: Repairs your armor using experience points.

All protection enchantments are exclusive, with the general protection enchantment being the most effective in most cases.

  • Protection: General protection against all attacks. Reduces damage.
  • Blast Protection: Protection against explosion damage, for example, from creepers.
  • Fire Protection: Protection against fire damage, for example, from blazes or lava.
  • Projectile Protection: Protection against projectiles, such as arrows from skeletons.

Helmet

These two enchantments for your helmet are essential. You should always use them along with protection and unbreaking, especially for underwater work.

  • Respiration: Allows you to hold your breath underwater longer.
  • Aqua Affinity: Allows you to mine blocks faster underwater.

Chestplate

The chestplate actually has no additional enchantments, but it offers the most protection in terms of percentage and is also the most expensive armor piece. Therefore, be sure to use Unbreaking, Mending, and Protection.

Leggings

Leggings have a unique enchantment that can only be transferred through books, in addition to the standard enchantments.

  • Swift Sneak: Allows you to move faster while sneaking.

Boots

Boots, on the other hand, have a lot of useful enchantments, each serving a specific purpose. These can help you in many situations.

  • Feather Falling: Reduces fall damage.
  • Frost Walker: Freezes water when you walk over it. This ice breaks after a certain time.
  • Depth Strider: Increases underwater movement speed.
  • Soul Speed: Increases movement speed on soul sand or soul soil. Perfect for the Nether!

Special Armor Pieces

There are also some armor pieces beyond the six materials. These can be very useful but take up an important slot in your inventory.

  • Elytra: Found in the End, the Elytra is one of the coolest armor pieces as it allows you to fly!
  • Carved Pumpkin: Wearing a pumpkin on your head restricts your vision but prevents Endermen from attacking you.
  • Mob Head: Obtained when a charged creeper explosion kills another monster. Very cool but only decorative.
  • Turtle Shell: Crafted from turtle shells. Provides a bit more breathing time underwater.

Armor Stands in Minecraft: Tips for Display and Collection

Since some enchantments are exclusive and you might want to craft different pieces, armor stands are a wonderful solution! You can display armor for each material type. While some are better suited for gameplay, it looks cool to have all six types. Of course, showcasing is also worthwhile if you want multiple decorations, which we’ll cover in the next section.

But how do you display your armor? There’s a cool block that now stores your unused armor. Armor stands are a fantastic feature and only cost a few sticks and smooth stone slabs. Use these in your base, and you’ll never have to search for armor again.

If you want to display the armor stands, you can create cool display cases using a simple trick. Use pistons to push two glass blocks over the armor stand from above. This makes it look like it’s exhibited in a museum! Perfect for enhancing your base’s aesthetics.

Smithing Templates and Armor Trims: Personalizing Your Minecraft Armor

The smithing table has received a new feature with the latest update, giving you another reason to display your armor. You can now find armor trim templates in the Minecraft world and adorn your armor beyond the six materials.

There are 18 different trims that you can find in chests across your Minecraft world. Some can be found in sunken shipwrecks, while others are only found in Nether bastions. Go on a quest if you want to craft cool armor. Additionally, there’s a trim that lets you upgrade your diamond armor to netherite. You can duplicate all templates with seven diamonds, the smithing template, and an additional building block related to the trim.

Once you’ve found one of these armor trims, you can use it at the smithing table. There’s a wide range of colors, as you can use all 10 ores to give your armor a unique color. For example, redstone makes the trim red, while an amethyst shard makes it purple. All these combinations provide you with over 400 billion options to customize your armor. That’s a lot!

Conclusion

There’s so much you can do with armor in Minecraft! Even though the feature has been in the game for a long time, it continues to receive exciting updates that you, as a player, can take advantage of. For instance, armor trims are a great way to use more armor stands in your world. At the same time, you should utilize the many enchantments to get the most out of your armor. Armor is the perfect protection against all the dangers lurking in Minecraft. Rent your Minecraft server and together with your friends, collect the best armor for everyone!
