How to create a Valheim whitelist
By default, Valheim requires a password to be set.
However, if you want to further protect your server, you can use a whitelist.
Here’s how to do it.
Note: You will need the SteamID64 of each player. You can obtain this information from various sources, such as https://steamid.io.
Important: To download the mentioned file, you must use a FTP program, such as Filezilla.
Follow these steps:
- Start your server and immediately stop it. The status should be “Server not running!”
- Connect to your FTP program using the Savegames-FTP.
You can find the login data in the FTP overview by clicking on FTP. - Locate the necessary
permitted.txt
file in the following directory:KonfigID/.config/unity3d/IronGate/Valheim/
Note: You can find the KonfigID or Configuration ID for your server on our page under Gameserver.
For example, if your KonfigID is 123456, the directory would be:/123456/.config/unity3d/IronGate/Valheim/
- Enter the SteamID64 of the players.
One SteamID64 per line! - Save your changes and upload the
permitted.txt
file. - Start your server.
Players who are not listed in the permitted.txt
file should now receive a message indicating that they have been banned.
