Minecraft Pale Garden & Creak – New Biome & Dangerous Mob in Update 1.21

With the Minecraft Update 1.21.4, the Pale Garden was added as a new biome—a gloomy landscape designed to frighten and terrify players. The “pale garden” invites you in with a mystical and eerie atmosphere that perfectly fits the game, offering not only new blocks but also challenges. Today, let’s take a closer look at this new biome! We will show you which blocks and monsters await you in the Pale Garden. Be particularly wary of the Creak, as it operates very differently from other mobs.

Finding the Minecraft Pale Garden – Here’s How!

Minecraft Pale Garden 1

But first, you need to find the new biome! This is not so easy, as it is linked to an already very rare biome and has only about a 0.07% chance of appearing.

A pale garden appears only in a dark forest—and only when it is above a certain height. They can also border other forest biomes, but they are often found only in the middle of dark forests and at higher elevations. Without tools like Chunkbase, you’ll need to search for a while to find a pale garden.

The sub-biome is marked by its namesake pale trees, which stand out starkly from the dark oaks. The sky also turns gray and loses color. Music stops playing, and no neutral or passive animals like sheep or cows spawn.

All New Blocks in Minecraft’s Pale Garden

Minecraft Pale Garden 2

The sheer number of new blocks makes a visit to the biome worthwhile! You can embark on many new building projects and enhance them with unique aspects.

  • Grass Blocks: In the pale garden, they receive a gray tint, which unfortunately cannot be transferred to other parts of your world.
  • Pale Moss Block: A variation of the normal moss block, which you can also spread with bone meal. It can be harvested normally by hand and retains its gray coloring.
  • Pale Moss Carpet: The equivalent of green moss carpets. It also arises when pale moss grows and can be found abundantly in the biome. You can also craft carpets with two pale moss blocks. Decorative vines spread if the carpet is adjacent to a block.
  • Hanging Pale Moss: A type of vine that hangs from the trees in the pale garden. It is particularly responsible for the biome’s sounds and contributes to the eerie ambiance. You will need shears to harvest the hanging moss.
  • Eye Blossom: A strange gray flower found only in this biome. It is closed during the day and only opens at night, revealing its orange blossom! It can be harvested in both stages but always closes during daylight. This also applies to flower pots.
  • Pale Oak: This oak is a variant of the dark oak—but with a new type of wood! It is almost white and a great addition to Minecraft’s palette. As usual, you can craft all different wood items from it. You need four saplings to grow a pale oak. As with large spruces, the ground may be replaced with pale moss.
  • Resin Lump: You will find these residues on some tree trunks in the pale garden. They appear when you hit a Creak and it points towards a tree. You can either craft wood blocks from them or process the lumps in a furnace into resin bricks. These orange blocks are great for building and add a lot of color to your ideas!

Defeating the Minecraft Creak – Guide & Tips

Minecraft Pale Garden 3

Apart from the many new blocks, it is probably the Creak that tempts you to search for the pale garden. This new monster is unlike anything you’ve seen before! Its wooden appearance and slender stature perfectly match the biome and help it blend in.

The Creak displays some interesting properties you should know beforehand:

  • It spawns only at night.
  • It takes no damage when you attack it.
  • Its appearance is tied to a so-called “Creak Heart.” Its range is 32 blocks around it.
  • It moves only when you are not looking at it—exactly the opposite of an Enderman.
  • It does not attack other monsters or animals, only players.
  • When you attack the Creak, it leaves particles that form resin lumps on trees.
  • It drops no loot and cannot be “traditionally” killed.

So how do you defeat the Creak? Well, its particles and the resin give you initial clues about the location of the Creak Heart. If you find and destroy this, the Creak disappears. However, there can be dozens of these hearts in one biome, so correspondingly many Creaks.

Minecraft Pale Garden 4

Destroying the heart can be difficult, as the Creak attacks you when you are not looking at it. Moreover, the pale garden also contains all the other monsters you need to watch out for! However, the Creak itself does not deal much damage, especially if you are wearing diamond or netherite armor.

Creak Heart in Minecraft: How to Summon a Creak

Minecraft Pale Garden 5

You can either mine Creak Hearts with “Silk Touch” or craft them yourself using pale oak logs and a resin block. You can summon your own Creaks with them, which can be quite amusing!

To do this, place a pale oak log above and below the Creak Heart. The mechanics of the Creak are the same as in the pale garden. It will still attack you—but also all other players on a server. The Creak is also a good distraction for fighting the Warden (Defeating the Minecraft Warden – How to Overcome the Strongest Opponent!) . However, the summoning only works in the overworld, not in the Nether or End.

Besides defense, another useful function is resin production. You might be interested in summoning a Creak because its particles continuously produce new resin lumps, which you can manually harvest. If you plan to build a lot with resin, you should spawn a few Creaks!

Conclusion: Is the Pale Garden in Minecraft Worth It?

The pale garden is not only a great resource for new blocks and vegetation but also the home of a mystical monster! The Creak is unique, and its mechanics are not immediately obvious. Thus, a fight presents a completely different approach. Do you want to discover the Pale Garden yourself? Rent your own Minecraft server now and embark on a quest with your friends to find a pale garden and a Creak. Surviving in this new biome is not easy!
