Minecraft Armor: Best Enchantments, Armor Stands, and Smithing Templates Explained

Minecraft is a game where you need to survive, and you can’t do that without the right armor! Over the years, the system has been expanded, which can be a bit difficult for newcomers to understand. However, armor is one of the most important things you should invest in early on. Whether it’s fall damage or attacks from monsters, the right armor is your best protection. In this article, we’ll cover everything you need to know and how to equip yourself best.

The Best Minecraft Enchantments for Armor: Maximum Effectiveness

Armor consists of four different pieces: the helmet, chestplate, leggings, and boots. You can craft these four pieces from six materials: leather, iron, gold, diamond, netherite, and chainmail. The more expensive the material, the better the protection. You can see this by the ten symbols above your XP bar. When fully filled with netherite, you’re well-protected. However, additional enchantments provide even more possibilities!

General Enchantments: How to Make Your Armor Invincible

All of these enchantments can be applied to any armor piece. Some, however, can only be obtained through books, not naturally through the enchantment table.

  • Thorns: When enemies get too close, they take damage as well.
  • Unbreaking: Armor lasts longer and requires less frequent repair or replacement.
  • Mending: Repairs your armor with experience points.

All protection enchantments are mutually exclusive; in most cases, the regular protection enchantment is the most effective.

  • Protection: General protection against all attacks. Reduces damage.
  • Blast Protection: Only protects against explosion damage, like from creepers.
  • Fire Protection: Only protects against fire damage, such as from blazes or lava.
  • Projectile Protection: Only protects against projectiles, like arrows from skeletons.

Helmet

These two helmet enchantments are essential. You should always use them alongside protection and unbreaking, especially for underwater tasks.

  • Respiration: Allows you to hold your breath underwater longer.
  • Aqua Affinity: Lets you mine blocks faster underwater.

Chestplate

The chestplate doesn’t have additional enchantments, but it offers the most protection percentage-wise and is also the most expensive armor piece. Therefore, it’s crucial to use unbreaking, mending, and protection.

Leggings

Aside from the typical enchantments, leggings have one enchantment that can only be transferred via books.

  • Swift Sneak: Allows you to sneak faster.

Boots

Boots have several excellent enchantments, each with a special use. These can assist you in various situations.

  • Feather Falling: Reduces fall damage.
  • Frost Walker: Freezes water as you walk over it. This ice will break after a certain time.
  • Depth Strider: Increases underwater movement speed.
  • Soul Speed: Increases speed on soul sand or soul soil. Perfect for the Nether!

Special Armor Pieces

There are also some armor pieces outside of the six materials. These can be very useful, but they replace an important slot in your inventory.

  • Elytra: Obtained in the End, this is one of the coolest armor pieces because it allows you to fly!
  • Carved Pumpkin: You can wear a pumpkin on your head. It restricts your vision, but Endermen won’t attack you.
  • Mob Head: Obtained by a charged creeper’s explosion killing another monster. It’s pretty cool but purely decorative.
  • Turtle Helmet: Crafted from turtle shells. Provides a bit more underwater breathing time.

Armor Stands in Minecraft: Tips for Display and Collection

Since some enchantments are exclusive and you likely want to craft various pieces, armor stands are fantastic! You can display armor for each material type. Even if some are better for actual gameplay, it looks cool to have all six types. It’s also worth displaying multiple decorations, which we’ll cover in the next section.

So how do you display your armor? There’s now a cool block that stores your unused armor. Armor stands are fantastic and only cost a few sticks and smooth stone slabs. Use them in your base, and you’ll never have to search for armor again.

If you just want to display armor stands, you can create nice display cases with a simple trick. Use pistons to push two glass blocks from above over the armor stand. It looks like it’s displayed in a museum! It’s pretty cool if you want to enhance your base.

Smithing Templates and Armor Trims: Personalize Your Minecraft Armor

The smithing table has gained a new function with the latest update, providing another reason to showcase your armor. You can now find templates for armor trims in the Minecraft world and further embellish your armor beyond the six materials.

There are 18 different trims available, which you can find in chests throughout your Minecraft world. Some are found in sunken shipwrecks, while others are only in bastions in the Nether. Explore and create cool armor. Additionally, a trim allows you to upgrade your diamond armor to netherite. You can duplicate all templates using seven diamonds, the smithing template, and an additional building block related to the trim.

Once you’ve found one of these armor trims, you can use it at the smithing table. There is a wide range of colors available, as you can use all 10 ores to give your armor a unique color. For example, redstone makes the trim red, while an amethyst shard makes it purple. These combinations provide over 400 billion options to customize your armor. That’s a lot!

Conclusion

There’s a lot you can do with armor in Minecraft! Although the feature has been in the game for a long time, it continues to receive cool updates that you can take advantage of as a player. For example, armor trims are a great idea to use more armor stands in your world. At the same time, you should also use the many enchantments to get the most out of your armor. Armor is the perfect protection against all the dangers lurking in Minecraft. Rent your Minecraft server and collect the best armor with your friends!
