Minecraft Pale Garden & Creak – New Biome & Dangerous Mob in Update 1.21

With the Minecraft Update 1.21.4, the Pale Garden was introduced as a new biome – a gloomy landscape designed to strike fear into players’ hearts. The “pale garden” invites you with a mystical and sombre atmosphere that perfectly fits the game, offering you not only new blocks but also challenges. Today, we take a closer look at this new biome! We’ll show you which blocks to expect and which monsters await you in the pale garden. Be particularly wary of the Creak, as it operates very differently from other mobs.

Finding the Minecraft Pale Garden – Here’s How!

Minecraft Pale Garden 1

But first, you need to find the new biome! This isn’t easy, as it is tied to an already very rare biome and has only about a 0.07% chance of appearing.

A pale garden only appears in a dark forest – and only then if it is above a certain height. They can also border other forest biomes, but are often found only in the centre of dark forests and at higher elevations. Without tools like Chunkbase, you’ll need to search for a while before you find a pale garden.

The sub-biome is characterised by its eponymous pale trees, which stand out starkly from the dark oaks. The sky also turns grey and loses its colour. Music stops playing, and no neutral or passive animals like sheep or cows spawn.

All New Blocks in Minecraft’s Pale Garden

Minecraft Pale Garden 2

A visit to the biome is worthwhile just for the sheer number of new blocks! This allows you to embark on many new construction projects and enhance them with unique features.

  • Grass Blocks: In the pale garden, they take on a grey hue, which unfortunately you cannot transfer to other parts of your world.
  • Pale Moss Block: A variation of the regular moss block, which you can also spread using bone meal. It can be harvested normally by hand and retains its grey colouring.
  • Pale Moss Carpet: The equivalent of green moss carpets. It also forms when pale moss grows and can be found abundantly in the biome. You can also craft carpets with two pale moss blocks. When the carpet touches a block, decorative vines spread.
  • Hanging Pale Moss: A type of vine that hangs from the trees in the pale garden. It is responsible for the biome’s sounds and contributes to the eerie ambience. You need shears to harvest the hanging moss.
  • Eye Bloom: A peculiar grey flower found only in this biome. It is closed during the day and only opens at night, revealing its orange blossom! It can be harvested in both stages but closes in daylight. This also applies to flower pots.
  • Pale Oak: This oak is a variant of the dark oak – but with a new wood type! It is almost white and a great addition to Minecraft’s palette. As usual, you can craft all kinds of wooden items from it. You need four saplings to grow a pale oak. As with large spruces, the ground may be replaced with pale moss.
  • Resin Lump: You’ll find these residues on some tree trunks in the pale garden. They form when you hit a Creak and it points towards a tree. You can either craft wood blocks from them or process the lumps into resin bricks in a furnace. These orange blocks are great for building and add a lot of colour to your ideas!

Defeating the Minecraft Creak – Guide & Tips

Minecraft Pale Garden 3

In addition to the many new blocks, it’s probably the Creak that lures you to search for the pale garden. This new monster is unlike anything you’ve seen before! Its wooden appearance and slender stature fit perfectly with the biome and help it blend in.

The Creak exhibits some interesting traits that you should know beforehand:

  • It only spawns at night.
  • It doesn’t take damage when you attack it.
  • Its appearance is linked to a so-called “Creak Heart”. Its range is 32 blocks around.
  • It only moves when you’re not looking at it, the exact opposite of an Enderman.
  • It doesn’t attack other monsters or animals, only players.
  • When you attack the Creak, it leaves particles that result in resin lumps on trees.
  • It doesn’t drop loot and can’t be “traditionally” killed.

But how do you defeat the Creak then? Well, its particles and resin give you the first clues about the location of the Creak Heart. If you find and destroy this, the Creak disappears. However, in one biome, there can be dozens of these hearts, and thus many Creaks.

Minecraft Pale Garden 4

Destroying the heart can be tricky, as the Creak attacks when you’re not looking at it. Additionally, in the pale garden, there are all the other monsters you need to watch out for! The Creak itself doesn’t do much damage, especially with diamond or netherite armour.

Creak Heart in Minecraft: How to Summon a Creak

Minecraft Pale Garden 5

You can either harvest Creak Hearts with “Silk Touch” or craft them yourself using pale oak logs and a resin block. You can summon your own Creaks, which can be quite amusing!

You need to place a pale oak log above and below the Creak Heart. The Creak’s mechanics are the same as in the pale garden. It will still attack you – and also any other players on a server. The Creak is also a good distraction when fighting the Warden (Defeating the Minecraft Warden – How to Conquer the Strongest Enemy!) . However, the summoning only works in the overworld, not in the Nether or End.

In addition to defence, another useful function is resin production. Summoning a Creak might be interesting for you because the particles continuously create new resin lumps, which you can manually harvest. So, if you want to build a lot with resin, you should spawn a few Creaks!

Conclusion: Is the Pale Garden Worth It in Minecraft?

The pale garden is not only a great resource for new blocks and vegetation but also home to a mystical monster! The Creak is unique, and its mechanics are not immediately apparent. A battle requires a completely different approach. Do you want to discover the Pale Garden yourself? Rent your own Minecraft server now and embark on a search for a pale garden and a Creak with your friends. Surviving in this new biome is not easy!
