Endermen are probably one of the creepiest monsters in Minecraft. Not only are they abnormally tall, but they can also teleport and ambush you. Their design is based on the Slenderman myth, which spread across the internet in the early 2010s. Since then, the Enderman has become one of the most feared and beloved mobs in the entire game! Not only are their Ender Pearls highly sought after, but they are also perfect for XP farms! Today, we will look at one of the simplest designs for such a farm, which, although intended for more advanced players, is still relatively easy to implement.
Why Build an Enderman Farm in Minecraft?
You’ve probably seen Endermen in the Overworld, and maybe you’ve even dared to fight them. They only attack you if you look directly at them. You might have noticed that they drop only one item, which you definitely shouldn’t miss out on!
Ender Pearls
While you can sometimes find Ender Pearls in mineshafts, the best way is to kill Endermen and collect their pearls. You can throw the pearls like snowballs and teleport with them. Although this causes you a bit of damage, it’s a cool way to quickly travel from point A to point B.
More importantly for your progress in the game, you can combine the Ender Pearl with Blaze Powder to create an Eye of Ender. They are extremely important if you want to complete Minecraft and defeat the Ender Dragon. You will need about a stack full, which is 16 pieces. Some are used to locate the Stronghold, while the rest are placed in the portal to the End.
Additionally, Eyes of Ender can be used in crafting recipes for End Crystals and Ender Chests. Both items are immensely helpful, especially in the late game! While you can use the End Crystal to resurrect the Ender Dragon, the Ender Chest allows you to create a universal inventory that you can access anytime and anywhere. It’s beneficial to collect many Ender Pearls, and the best way to do this is with an Enderman farm!
Experience Points
In an earlier article about XP farms (Building a Minecraft XP Farm: Quickly and Easily Reach Level 30) , we hinted at an Enderman farm. Today, we will finally tackle it! Such a farm is not only much more efficient than one in the Overworld but also grants you significantly more experience points in a short time. Perfect for enchantments or repairing your tools and weapons.
The Perfect Location for Your Enderman Farm in the End
We will not build the Enderman farm in the Overworld or the Nether, but in the End. This is the third dimension in Minecraft, which can only be reached through a corresponding portal. Use the Eyes of Ender to lead you to a Stronghold and open the way to the End. There, you will encounter not only the giant end boss but also hundreds of Endermen!
You should have defeated the Ender Dragon to build the farm, allowing you to work undisturbed. We take advantage of the fact that nothing spawns here except Endermen. And plenty of them! This makes the farm extremely efficient, as there’s no one else around.
Step-by-Step Guide: How to Build an Enderman Farm in Minecraft
There are various designs for an Enderman farm, but we’ve chosen one of the simplest construction guides. This farm, while very efficient, does not require an Endermite to attract the Endermen. Instead, we focus on the fact that Endermen want to attack you when you look at them! We lure them to this farm without allowing them to attack you directly.
Leaves are one of the most important building materials for this farm. Use shears or axes to collect them from trees. Endermen cannot spawn on leaves, which we will take advantage of.
List of Building Materials
- At least 9 stacks of leaves
- 1 stack of slabs
- Building blocks
- 7 torches
- 6 scaffolds
- 1 armour stand
- 3 water buckets
- 1 lava bucket
Step-by-Step Guide
First, we need to reach the floor of the End. This can be a bit tricky because, after all, the dimension consists of floating islands. There is no direct floor, so we must create it ourselves. Go to the edge of the large island and let a lava stream flow over the edge to the bottom. Once it reaches the bottom, collect the lava and repeat the process with water. This creates a cobblestone pillar down to the “floor” of the End, which you can use.
Next, build about 160 blocks (25 stacks) away from the large island at the bottom using leaves. This can take some time, so make sure to keep the Shift key pressed! Add 4 additional leaves and then build a small platform. This consists of two small triangles surrounded by leaves.
Now, use the 6 scaffolds on the respective building blocks. Place the armour stand in the middle and one block above. This prevents the Endermen from attacking you. Build a roof with leaves above it.
Next, we’ll build the platform where the Endermen spawn. Build 22 blocks long with leaves, twice in parallel with a 3-block gap. This creates a kind of bridge for the Endermen.
From the middle, build 4 more blocks outward and then a row of 18 slabs, three blocks wide. Around the slabs, add 5 rows of leaves each to complete the platform.
You need to place water on all the leaves 30 blocks in front of the chamber and the two bridges. Create an infinite water source and place water on the leaves. This prevents the Endermen from teleporting onto the leaves.
Stand in front of the farm. The Endermen should already be appearing on the slabs at the back. Look at them through the armour stand. Once they have gathered over the two bridges, swing your sword! It’s best to use a sword with Sweeping Edge to deal enough damage.
Conclusion: The Advantages of an Enderman Farm in Minecraft
If you’ve already been to the End and defeated the Ender Dragon, then there’s nothing stopping you from building an Enderman farm! It’s easy to construct, efficient, and probably one of the best sources of experience points. Moreover, our design does not require a bothersome Endermite and functions normally.
