Building an Automatic Potion Brewer: Step-by-Step Guide with Tips

Like many other machines in Minecraft, a brewing stand can be filled using hoppers. And since we need several ingredients, the setup mainly consists of chests and hoppers. The good thing about this design is that you can expand it as you like. If you only want to focus on certain potions, that’s no problem at all! In our example, we will show you a setup for brewing a splash potion of night vision so you can understand the principle.

Building materials for an automatic potion brewer: What you need

• 8 Hoppers
• 3 Chests
• Brewing Stand

• 4 Stone Buttons

Step-by-step guide: Automated potion production in Minecraft

1. Place a chest on the ground and a hopper pointing into it. Next to it, place a lever and turn it on. It ensures that the brewed potions don’t go directly into the chest but only when they are finished. This way, you can complete the process before collecting the potions.

2. Next, add the supply for the blaze powder and water bottles to the side. You need to refill these manually, but even a small chest should suffice. Make sure not to place the hopper over the switch from step 1, as otherwise, you might accidentally operate both.

3. The ingredients need to be fed into the brewing stand from above. For this, use hoppers and droppers (do not use dispensers!) to insert items into the brewing stand with a click. Use as many hoppers as you need ingredients. You can customise the layout, but make sure the droppers are not adjacent, as otherwise, neighbouring droppers will also be activated.

5. The blaze powder and water bottles are refilled automatically. The water bottles in the brewing stand are only extracted when you activate the lower lever.

6. Now tap the ingredients you need for brewing a specific potion one after the other. In our case, it’s first the nether wart, then the golden carrot, then the redstone, and finally the gunpowder. In the end, three finished potions should come out!
